New Samsung Chromebook & Chromebox review: Chrome OS grows up | The Verge

This is sort of a follow up to a post i wrote this weekend that Android would be dead on the Tablet in 2 years, I got a lot of flack by a person on G+ about the post apparently he thinks I was Trolling.

I stand by the statement, he has an example of his single user case against my examples for an entire business sector. He also misunderstood I think what I was saying which is firstly Google won’t get rid of Android, it is the best phone OS out there it just doesn’t scale for business up to a Tablet.

This however is a good post from the Verge on just how far ChromeOS has come in the past few years which I firmly belive with the Help of the WebOS team will become the Enterprise OS of Google within 2 years.

Android will be a dead OS in 2 years..

Google purchased the initial developer of the software, Android Inc., in 2005.[7] The unveiling of the Android distribution in 2007 was announced with the founding of the Open Handset Alliance and by 2014 i predict the Android OS as we know it will be dead and buried.

Why do i make these claims? Am just another IOS/Apple fanboy looking for Linkbait? Have i lost the plot? Read More…

Should the unemployed be made to work for their benefits?

Listening to the radio this morning an interesting question arose “Should the unemployed be made to work for their benefits?”

I find this both an interesting question and was equally interested by some of the responses on the radio from people phoning in. Read More…

iPad 3 Jailbroken… Job Done..

I like the Jailbroken iPad it allows me to do what i want unlocked from Apples commercially sensible but geeky annoying decisions. Apple strike me as a sensible company in so far as the iDevice range does what it’s supposed to do but now what they can do. However I like to get a bit more out of the devices i buy.. Why not buy an Android Tablet? Simple I can’t find one with 3G built in which fits my needs.. Read More…

Reference your quotes properly

One of the few thing’s i’ve learnt from studying recently is the use of Citations, not just quoting webpages, letting your readers know where these snippets of information you’d gained from other webpages are from.

Harvard Citation system is a simple easy method of performing this task, however can be a little complex to start with. However the web is a wonderful tool and there are plenty of sites out there to build a Harvard Reference block for you.  Read More…

Discussion: Is taking a random photo of someone an issue?

I recently took a photo of a guy on a train who wouldn’t move his bag from the seat opposite and published the photo on Facebook. It’s raised a question of taking photos of people in public places.

I like taking photos of people in various situations, just doing what they are doing, i like the non posing, the lack of setup and the look and feel of someone just doing what they are doing and not thinking about how they look. Read More…

iCatcher! Podcasting on the iPad done right

As an avid podcast listener to the point I listen to them more than watch Traditional TV I spent a long time looking for a good podcast client on the iPad.

While the iTunes store does supply most of the podcasts I listen to it falls down in so far as I have to remember to manually go and download each show if I never link my ipad to my Mac which is the case.

Backup Phone systems..

We had a situation at work yesterday where the phone system wasn’t working, as per usual nothing to do with the internal side (thank the lord harry) It was BT being pretty slack as usual. Essentially someone dug up some road somewhere and didn’t like the cables with the pretty colours so launched a size 12 boot at a shovel and well.. the rest as they say is a dead line.

The “new iPad” what is it really like?

It’s easy to fall into the trap of writing a review on a product the day it comes out, because that is what the world wants. However It takes a few weeks for the gloss to loose its shine. Well as a day 1 adopter of the “new iPad” as an upgrade to the original iPad I’ve made use of this device daily and recently while traveling on a weekend get away.
